Alex's Story

By Ron & Lynn B

Friday the 13th is no longer an unlucky day in our book. Alex, Ron and I arrived home from Russia this past July 13, a Friday. The travel agent actually jokingly said, do you want to wait until the 14th to fly home. We wanted to get home as soon as possible for all of our sake.

The adoption process was quite an adventure with all the ups and downs that we were informed of at our pre-adoption meetings and it was much like some of the stories I read about in our preparation for our son's arrival. As they say, you just don't know what to expect until it happens to you live and in person.

The flight home was something I hope we can laugh at in years to come. The band Aerosmith was on our flight home all the way from Moscow to Boston. We are known namelessly to them as the family with the screaming baby who kept them from getting any rest all the way home. Oh well, what can you do? One word of first-hand advice... Don't forget to pack a change of clothes for Mommy and Daddy too, and not just for the baby. I am sure glad I did, or I would have had some strange looks at the airport in Frankfurt for the layover!

It is a long way from Ufa, Russia and Alex is doing just fine and getting healthier and happier ever day. All the ups and downs were all worth it. Nap time is over and my chance to write this letter has come to an abrupt end. We wish well for all the families in every step of the process.
