Dear Friends,
Not a day goes by that we don’t hear something quite remarkable involving the accomplishments of a newly arrived child or the joy that a child has brought to his or her parents. Over the years, those communications slow down as children grow and become involved with school, sports and other past times. Families drift away from attending agency events, or even spending much time thinking and talking about adoption.
But we have not forgotten the families with whom we have worked and their extraordinary stories. In celebration of reaching the exciting milestone of having placed 10,000 children into loving homes, we want to share with you recollections of families as they look back and reflect on the years that have passed since their children arrived home. We thought it would be particularly interesting to go back in time and recount the experiences of families who adopted through us 5, 10, 20 and even more than 25 years ago. No one can describe the miracle of adoption better than those who have made the journey.
We hope you will enjoy browsing through our anthology of family stories and photos describing what adoption has meant to each person who wrote us. We will continue to add more family stories as they arrive - we invite you to add your own reflections and encourage other family members to do so.
You are in for a treat, so sit back and enjoy letters from WHFC families !
