Humanitarian Aid Projects
Daily living presents unimaginable challenges for those who are orphaned, abandoned or poor. As a child welfare agency, a vital part of our mission is to improve living conditions for those in desperate need. Here are some of the ways we offer vulnerable children and families around the world assistance, hope and opportunity for the future:
- An abandoned child in Guatemala will be cared for in a hogar (orphanage) that remains open becuase of WHFC support.
- An Ethiopian family will receive quality medical care for the first time through the construction of the Leku Hospital and WHFC-sponsored Medical Missions.
- A family living in a Mumbai slum will participate in community clean-up programs, tuberculosis prevention clinics, small business development groups for women and pre-K education through Family Service Center's Community Empowerment Project.
- An orphaned child in Colombia will receive exceptional care and education through Chiquitines and other WHFC-supported orphanages.
- Impoverished children living in a boarding school in Moldova will have heat and hot water in their dormitory this winter for the first time.
