Join Our Mission
Following on the success of our first medical mission in November, we are planning our second mission to the southern region of Ethiopia this spring. For this mission, we are specifically in need of the following medical professionals:
- Surgeon
- Obstetrician/ Gynecologist
- Anesthesiologist
Additionally, prior experience administering medical care in third-world countries is helpful. Conditions are uncertain, and may involve working without fresh water or electricity. Openings for this and future missions may become available at the last minute, applicants able to travel on short notice will be given priority. All mission volunteers are responsible for their travel to Ethiopia and all expenses incurred in doing so, which includes transportation, visa, immunizations, and other related costs. Volunteers are also responsible for any spending money while in country. WHFC covers the cost of housing, food, and travel within Ethiopia.

With our goal of conducting 3-4 missions per year, we are also looking to gather information on medical professionals who are interested in participating in our cause. This list includes, but is not limited to:

- Obstetricians/ Gynecologists

- Ophthalmologists
- ENTs

Depending upon the specific needs, each mission will vary on the type of health care professionals needed. Applicants need not reapply, as all applicant information will be stored in a database for future missions, and selected applicants will be contacted by one of the doctors heading up the medical trip.
Financial Support
You can also help by providing financial support through a donation to Wide Horizons For Children, specifying its use for the medical missions. We are in need of benefactors to help with the expenses of our missions, which comprises such items as in-country travel, medical supplies and equipment, and training of staff in Ethiopia.
