Humanitarian Aid in Ukraine

Of Ukraine's 9 million children, 65,000 live in state-run institutions, often separated from their siblings. Most of these children are abandoned by their parents due to poverty, unemployment, alcoholism, and drug use. Ukraine is also on the brink of an HIV/AIDS epidemic, and rates of mother-to-child HIV transmission are soaring as risky behaviors among people under 30 years increase. While the government is committed to improving social services, the budget available for these services remains limited due to the struggling economy.

The UCARE Scholarship Program provides living and schooling expenses for the brightest and most talented students.
