Camp Details:
The Chengdu Panda Homeland Tour offers a unique experience to live in foster homes to have a strong immersion in a Chinese family’s life. As a teens’ program offered to China adoptees, the tour offers a vibrant combination of education and hands-on fun activities. The goal is to help youth to explore and learn China and return with positive self image and pride of being Chinese.
The tour will be escorted by U.S. bi-lingual adoption professionals as well as U.S. social workers. All the activities in China will be chaperoned by licensed Chinese speaking guides. Its daily programs are specifically designed for teens including learning ancient folk arts, puppet shows, face changing stunts, folk dances, visiting panda habitats and observing panda’s daily life, getting together with local middle school students to make friends, living in local foster homes for a week to experience what a Chinese family’s life is like.
Participants:
Adopted youth from China age 12 or older. Because of the unique feature of this program, the program is only recruiting 40 participants this year. Space is limited and early application is recommended.
Organizers:
The program is specifically designed by US-China C & E Association (UCCEA), a long-standing, reputed cultural exchange organization based in China with its sub division in NYC. UCCEA is a non-profit organization specialized in cultural and exchange programs between United States and China. Since its inception in 1995, the association has held many cultural activities and exchange programs in education, training, winter and summer camps between the two countries. In recent years, with the ever growing China adoptive community, UCCEA has successfully expanded its expertise in international travel and cultural exchange programs with the support from adoption professionals in U.S. Their own professional travel organizations in China plan and lead all the trips. Thus it is cost effective and competitive because the UCCEA’s China division designs the itineraries and activities.
