The Colombian Institute of Family Welfare has worked with WHFC on the placement of children from Colombia since 1977, and in that time we have placed over 150 children. Wide Horizons for Children works with representatives in Bogota, Cali and Medellin who are very experienced in adoptions and are available to guide families through the entire process.
We work directly through the Colombian government Institute of Family Welfare program (ICBF), and also with two private orphanages, Chiquitines in Cali and Casita de Nicolas in Medellin. Children being placed through ICBF generally will be living in foster care. The private orphanages we work with have equally wonderful care for the children, including educational and medical services, along with counseling for birth mothers.
