For several weeks, WHFC staff and our families had the great opportunity to host two very special guests: Dr. Tsegaye, our in-country representative, and Dr. Kebede, a high level government official from the Southern Region. Within this region of Ethiopia, is Sidama, the area where the majority of our over 400 adopted children have come from, to date. Children and families across the U.S. shared their joy and stories with the two gentlemen.
Dr. Kebede has been instrumental in providing the Ethiopian government support necessary for us to carry out our adoption and humanitarian aid work. In a meeting with staff, he gratefully recounted the overwhelmingly positive results of WHFC's child sponsorship program in the Southern Region. Needy children and their families, identified through the Ethiopian government, receive nutrition, medical care, schooling and the opportunity to become self sufficient through these efforts. To date over 700 children are sponsored by WHFC families and donors, however, there are so many more children who need this same assistance. Learn more about our Ethiopia sponsorship program.
After their time in Boston, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and New York, Drs. Tsegaye and Kebede also visited WHFC families in California, Chicago and completed their U.S. travel in Washington DC. View a photo slideshow of WHFC's Massachusetts family event.
