Program Criteria
Marital Status: The Korea program is open to couples who have been married for at least three years. Neither spouse may have been divorced more than twice. There should be no more than a ten year age difference between spouses.
Age Requirements: Both spouses should be between the ages of 25-42 at the time of application to Korea; neither spouse may be more than 42 years of age (e.g. have not reached their 43rd birthday) at date of completed application to the Korea program. Age requirements may be more flexible for prospective adoptive parents who are Korean adoptees or of Korean heritage, or for families interested in adopting a waiting child.
Other: Couples should have no more than 4 other children in the home. Applicants must be physically and emotionally healthy. Medical/ mental health issues may require pre-screening before applicants are approved to adopt from Korea. Program open to families in Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, Florida and Rhode Island only. A parent-initiated option is available to those who live in New Jersey.
