Couples with a formal relationship of at least three years (legal marriage; or one year marriage plus two years common law) may adopt from the Philippines. Couples ages 27-41 may apply to adopt children 0-24 months; ages 27-46 may apply to adopt children 24-48 months; for older children, adoptive parent(s) must be no more than 47 years older than the child they wish to adopt. The option for singles to adopt from the Philippines is currently on hold, however this exception may be waived when applying to adopt a waiting child. The Philippines program has a strong preference for applicants who plan to raise their children in a religious tradition. This program is not recommended for clients living with a person of the same gender.
