Children Available

Request an Info Packet

Both boys and girls of all ages are available for adoption in Rwanda. Interested families should be open to a child between the ages of 0-24 months at time of referral. On rare occasions sibling groups may be available. The children who are referred for adoption live in orphanages across the country supported by the Rwandan government.

There are an estimated 1 million orphaned children in Rwanda. Many of these have been orphaned due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic or other forms of disease. Others may have lost family during the genocide. Children are generally available for adoption from Rwanda due to one of the following reasons:

  • Abandonment by birthparents or relatives
  • Relinquishment by a birth relative due to inability to care for the child(ren)
  • Relinquishment by birthparents because of extreme poverty, illness, or other reasons
