Single Women Are Able to Adopt From China!

WHFC is pleased to announce that beginning March 15, single women will again be able to adopt from China, according to an announcement from the China Center for Adoption Affairs (CCAA). In order to guarantee the basic needs of orphaned children in China with special needs, single female applicants will be able to adopt identified Special Focus children through the WHFC China Special Children program. Special Focus children are generally:

  • Older toddlers and school-aged children with an identified special need
  • Older childre (age 10 and up)n who are either healthy or have a special need

Single females hoping to adopt through this program need to be between 30-50 years of age, and have no more than 2 children already living in the home, with the youngest child having reached the age of 6. Applicants between the ages 50-55 must be no more than 45 years older than the child to be adopted. Additional criteria are available from the China Special Children program team.

Families Needed!

This is a very fast-moving program. You may select the age, gender and medical condition of the child you wish to adopt. Most families are matched within 1-3 months of application to the program. Dossier-ready families can bring their children home in one year or less. Subsidies may be available.

We have placed close to 1,800 children from China since 1991. Our families who have adopted through the China Special Children program report being thrilled with their children and the adoption experience.

China Special Children Program Eligibility Requirements

MARRIED couples with at least 2 years of marriage if there are no previous divorces; 5 years of marriage if there are divorces, and no more than 2 divorces per couple, as well as single women.

» The adoptive parents should be between 30-54 years old.

Children Who Need Families

Boys and girls of all ages with mild to severe medical needs are available for adoption. Families are especially needed for boys. Children are cared for in orphanages and foster care settings throughout China.
