Humanitarian Aid Projects: Ukraine

In a country where the average standard of living has decreased by 80% over the past 15 years, poverty and sickness are brought on by the inability to provide adequate nutrition and healthcare. Least able to fend for themselves are the children who have been abandoned and orphaned.

Support Humanitarian Aid Projects

In the Ukraine, we continue to support a variety of projects that help orphaned and abandoned children waiting for adoption and those who may never know the security of a family. These projects have ranged from large scale donations where we have helped to renovate orphanages to the most basic support for orphanages in more remote areas. Additionally, when Wide Horizons staff travel to Ukraine, we are almost always approached with simple yet profound requests to purchase food, medicine and supplies. Your support will enable us to continue providing this much needed aid.

General Humanitarian Aid Support

Wide Horizons continues to work with existing partners, in addition to sending agency representatives to Ukraine in order to identify new projects in desperate need of our funding. With your help, Wide Horizons can continue to respond to the urgent needs of children in Ukraine.

Projects underway or completed with your help:

  • Grant of $25,000 made to Boyarka Orphanage for the purpose of renovating their heating system. Grant made to an orphanage in Odessa for new washing machines.
  • Grant of $17,000 made to the Kiev Children's Orphanage to renovate the infant wing of the orphanage and purchase washing machines and a new stove and sink.

While the needs of children in Ukraine seem endless, with your help we can continue to make a world of difference. Please join us today by visiting our online donation page or contacting Lindsay Carver, Development Coordinator, at 781.419.0327 or lcarver@whfc.org.
