Adoption ABC's: WHFC Assistance Programs
In recognition of the financial obligation required of adopting parents, Wide Horizons For Children has established a variety of programs to help ease the burden of adoption financing. Some of our efforts will provide assistance to families for whom the cost of adoption is a significant financial hardship. Helping to facilitate these adoptions creates homes for children who might otherwise never achieve the security of a permanent family.
Financial Assistance Consultation
Wide Horizons offers prospective families a confidential, personalized consultation with our Chief Financial Officer. This one-on-one conversation offers a review of your financial options and can help you develop a plan to build your family through adoption.
Payment Timing
Depending on your program choice, you may be able to maximize the time during which you finance your child's adoption. If your program selection involves longer waiting times for referrals and travel dates, your payment schedule may be lengthened. All fees are due upon invoicing. For actual fees, refer to the Fee Sheet provided in our information packet.
Adoptive Family Subsidies
Since 1993, WHFC has provided financial assistance to families through the awarding of subsidies. Subsidies are distributed based on a family's financial profile and need, as well as the adoptive child's specific set of circumstances. All applications for financial support are reviewed for eligibility. Download application form now.
Benefactor Award Program
Through the generosity of our donors, eligible applicants are awarded a benefactor grant of $5,000. Families considered for this award are unable to adopt a child without considerable financial assistance. All applications for financial support are reviewed for eligibility. Child Placement Subsidies
Children of Hope
This new program matches specific severe special needs children to a $5,000 subsidy. These children are indicated on our website as part of our Waiting Children listing. You can view the Children of Hope and all of our Horizon Kids in our Waiting Children section. You will need to register and create a username and password in order to view this photolisting.
