We are experts

Since 1974, Wide Horizons For Children has placed over 9,500 children with adoptive families, and worked in more than 50 countries around the world. Our staff members are considered experts in the adoption field and are regularly contacted by the media and community to share their expertise. Many of our program staff are natives of the country of the adoption program they coordinate and serve as a wonderful bridge between foreign adoption officials and adoptive families. As well, Program Coordinators are in daily contact with adoption officials and representatives and are extremely well informed about how best to guide families through the intricacies of an adoption.

The decision to build or expand your family through adoption is one of the most important and life-changing decisions you will ever make. This is a decision that the staff at Wide Horizons For Children understands, and in fact, many have made. Almost half of the Wide Horizons' staff are adoptive parents or adoptees.

We offer many adoption choices

Currently, WHFC offers adoption programs in 11 countries: China, Colombia, Ethiopia, Guatemala, India, Kazakhstan, Korea, The Philippines, Russia, Ukraine and the United States. Most of our programs are long-standing, and we have established solid relationships with our adoption partners. Our wide range of choices allows most prospective parents to find one or more adoption programs that are a good fit for them.

Families may dual apply, with no extra fee

Those working with us to adopt a child may apply to more than one program at the same time, including China. International adoption can be unpredictable, and countries do slow down from time to time. "Dual applying" allows applicants to move through the adoption process despite an unexpected slow down in one country. You will not pay additional fees to WHFC to participate in a second or even a third program. Only one child or siblings are placed regardless of a dual application.

We provide comprehensive pre- and post-adoption services

Wide Horizons For Children offers a wide range of support services for parents and children. Annual cultural celebrations, educational workshops and post-adoption counseling are examples of the services we provide to our families. We also encourage networking between adoptive families, both before and after the arrival of a child.

Our concern for children extends beyond adoption

Humanitarian aid is an important part of the work we do at Wide Horizons For Children. As a child welfare agency, our concern is not only for those children being adopted, but also for the many who will never be adopted. We routinely provide vital goods and services to orphanages and hospitals around the world.
