Adoption can be a significant financial undertaking for any family. Wide Horizons For Children (WHFC) offers competitive fees for adoption services and financial support for families who demonstrate financial need.

Total adoption fees vary depending on the range and type of adoption services provided, the program selected, and the related expenses, including travel. If you are comparing fees between different agencies, it is important to note exactly which services are included for the stated fee.

In addition, there are a variety of opportunities available to families for financial assistance, including:

  • WHFC Financial Assistance Programs
  • General Adoption Funding Resources
  • Government Tax Credits and Deductions

In general, WHFC adoption services and fees are grouped into three areas:

Fee timeline

Pre-Placement

  • New Family Registration — Non-refundable; this fee is waived for returning WHFC families
  • Agency Fee — Part I and II
  • Home Study Services — Not applicable to Placement Services families

Child Placement

  • Program Services — Coordinating WHFC domestic or international program services with overseas partners, country-specific education, case management and support, dossier assistance, translations, child referral, travel support, and post-placement reporting
  • Charitable Fee — Supports WHFC's worldwide mission

Post-Placement

  • Post-Placement Services — Includes post-placement visits, reports, and clinical services support as required by state regulations and foreign governments

In general, the total cost of an adoption, whether international or domestic, will be between $25,000 and $35,000. For some programs, travel expenses would be additional.
