November is National Adoption Month!

Did you know that National Adoption Week was first declared in Massachusetts in 1976? Over time, the number of states who joined in this special observation increased, and in 1990 the month of November was declared to be National Adoption Month. Wide Horizons For Children has a variety of activities scheduled throughout the month of November to celebrate and help increase awareness of adoption as a way to build a family. Talking to Your Child About Adoption

Parent and childDescription: Whether your child is pre-verbal or in early adolescence, there are many opportunities for adoptive parents to help their child understand his/her life story. Learn practical and useful ways to share age-appropriate information with your child. Explore various ways to introduce aspects of your child's adoption and birth history even with children who are not openly asking questions. Ways to approach difficult topics will also be covered.
