Dear Prospective Adoptive Parent,

Click here for direct access to the WHFC Information Packet Documents that can be downloaded.

Thank you for your interest in learning about adopting a child through Wide Horizons For Children. In this packet you will find our handbook and other materials with important information about our agency and the options you have to expand your family.

WHFC works with families throughout the United States. Families who live outside WHFC's full service areas are served by our Placement Services team, in collaboration with one of WHFC's partner agencies in their state. WHFC will be the Placement Agency in your adoption – giving you access to multiple country programs and ultimately the children in need of families. Our Placement Services staff is dedicated to ensuring that our families are well served at Wide Horizons and that the transition from the home study phase to the adoption program occurs smoothly. This initial packet of information will provide you with the basics to get started with the adoption process. Placement Services clients must meet the requirements listed in the enclosed brochure.

As you may know, the US is preparing to ratify the Hague Convention, a multilateral treaty strengthening protections for children adopted internationally. During the past year, WHFC has been actively working towards Hague accreditation in 2008. In compliance with the Hague Convention, we make available comprehensive information about our services, fees, placement history, as well as lists of US and foreign supervised partners. This information is available upon request. Each of our staff is committed to our goal of guiding you through the process of adoption. In over 34 years of helping to bring children and parents together, we have placed almost 10,000 children from more than 50 countries, with loving families across the U.S. Our comprehensive services coupled with our wide range of programs have helped make Wide Horizons For Children one of the leading agencies in the nation.

We encourage you to carefully read through the enclosed materials and hope they provide you with the information and guidance you are looking for. Please do not hesitate to contact a member of our Placement Services team or myself if you have any questions.

We look forward to helping you build your family through adoption.

Sincerely,
Maryanne Ludwig,
Manager of Placement Services
