Eva's Story
By Caroline H
I contacted WHFC in June 2006. We went to the Massachusetts office to submit our paperwork, and were able to meet the staff who had assisted us during our adoption process. They were so helpful and reassuring. When we submitted our paperwork that August, we always hoped but never thought we would receive a referral for our amazing daughter 2 weeks later. We travelled within the month. The staff in Russia was as amazing as the staff in the US. We travelled to Eva's region (Voronezh) which was a 12-hour train ride south of Moscow. It was a stressful time for us, first-time parents, very little knowledge of Russian and the areas we were travelling to. We couldn't have done it without WHFC.
We met Eva for the first time in October 2006, and flew home on her 1st birthday. We knew she would be so happy with us, and we with her. When we brought her home less than 7 weeks later, we were the happiest family. She has adjusted so well so quickly. She has caught up, even surpassed, in every aspect. We couldn't be happier or luckier. We wouldn't be a family if it weren't for WHFC.
