An Important Country in Asia

By Lindsey K.

Lindsey with her entire familyThe most interesting, awesome trip I've ever been on is when I went with my whole family to the Philippines to adopt my 4 year old brother, Andro. He was born in Ligao in 2000. It probably was the most important trip I've taken, too. My sisters, Colleen and Heather, are seven year old twins from Korea and I am a nine year old from China. Since we are adopted, our mom and dad, Chris and Dan, wanted us to come to see what they had done and felt like when they met us. THe flight to L.A. then Japan and then the flight to the Philippines were awesome. I heard lots of different languages from all over the world! I felt so excited when we landed in the Philippines. We went to a HUGE twelve story hotel and people there were very nice. The next day we met our brother. I remember walking to his house where he lived with the other toddlers and saw him, after he came close. I felt like I was meeting the president! After we met Andro, we went shopping. I love the shell products! They are really beautiful! The next day we saw an awesome old church, went shopping some more and went swimming. Most of our days were like that there. I absolutely loved the view from the hotel window. We could see the sparkling streets of Manila. I was sad when we left and we were only there 5 days. On the way home I thought about the things we did. WHen I saw a volcano I thought it was really cool. When Mama held Andro for the first time I felt astonished we were finally together. We're celebrating our first year with him and I'll never stop loving him! I'll never forget that trip. I now understand what it is like to go through international adoption. I love the results! I hope we go back soon!
